She has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_GEtkSzAyOs&#038;feature=youtu.be\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">duet along with Cuban double bass player \u00d3scar Rodr\u00edguez<\/a>, and she also programs contemporary music in her classes at the conservatory, something that is not so common!!<\/p>\n            \n            <p>Last May, two of her students played fantastically the first of my three <a href=\"https:\/\/edicionesdelantal.es\/en\/product\/tres-cubanias-osm85nv1\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blan\">&#8216;Cuban\u00edas&#8217;<\/a> for piano in four hands. These 10 concerts happened last fall, on Wednesdays.<\/p>\n            \n            <p>They are short concerts, about 40 minutes long with bilingual explanations, since in that area of Spain the audience is quite international! The piece lasts just over 20 minutes, is written for piano and treble choir, dedicated to pianist Rosa Torres-Pardo and professor Antoni Piz\u00e0. <strong>Lentitude<\/strong> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/brookcenter.gc.cuny.edu\/2025\/03\/02\/sonia-megias-composers-commission-2025\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">commission by the Foundation for Iberian Music<\/a>, which is part of the City University of New York (CUNY), the university where I&#8217;ve been conducting research since January.<\/p>\n                \n                <p>The concert will feature a program leaded by <a href=\"https:\/\/soniamegias.es\/en\/music\/corodelantal\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">CoroDelantal<\/a> and D\u00faa da Pel, showing some of my <a href=\"https:\/\/soniamegias.es\/en\/queer-scores\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">queer music scores<\/a> and other pieces for voice and piano, with soloists from the New York City scene and pianist-professors from NYU. His piece <strong>In C<\/strong> is a landmark in the history of musical experimentation. Years ago, I wrote an article about it for Doce Notas magazine titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.docenotas.com\/1014\/la-venganza-de-terry-riley\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8216;La venganza de Terry Riley&#8217;<\/strong><\/a> (Terry Riley&#8217;s Revenge) which includes the sheet music.<\/p>\n                \n                <p>Well, this year I&#8217;ve been invited, along with astonishing musicians such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meganschubert.com\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Schubert<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gutcity.com\/\" class=\"blue-link\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Hallet<\/a>, to be one of the vocalists at this great event.
