NUEVA YORK: Musical gymkana ‘Desperately Seeking Sonia’

On May 6th 2012, professor John Gilbert curated this musical gymkana as our final work for subject ‘Music as a Tool for Spiritual Connection’. This gymkana had several events.

NEW YORK: Dúa de Pel as invited artists @ NYU

Professor Nancy Shankman invited Eva and me as models of international artists to encourage music educators at their welcome to NYU.

The party for the graduate students of Music Education will be at room 303 of the Steinhart School of Music (my school during my Fulbright fellowship!).

So Dúa de Pel will talk about our careers, ask some questions and give a little recital for them.

NYC: Concert-Tribute to my music at NYU

I have the honor to receive this tribute from the NYU Steinhardt Alumni Association. The concert will hold pieces for a cappella voices and voice with piano, with the participation of Dúa da Pel and CoroDelantal NYC.

There will be a great premiere, from the piece Lentitude, for SA chorus and piano, on poems by María Alonso Espasandín. The piece is a commission from the Foundation for Iberian Music at CUNY.

NYC An Evening with Sonia Megias in Concert

NYC: Artist in Residence @ NYU Espacio de Culturas

From January to June 2026 I’ll be the Artist in Residence at the Espacio de Culturas at the New York University.

I’ll use this grant to create new “rare scores”, to rehearse with CoroDelantal (my aprons chorus) to celebrate our 15th anniversary, and also organize some interviews to local and international artists and curators.
